Children love coming to school. They are at the heart of every decision that leaders make.
They rapidly develop their confidence and independence.-ofsted report Jan 2020

school development priorities for 2024-2026

We are always looking at ways to improve and focus on the school and its development please read our summary plan for the Nursery HERE

Regular attendance is the key to great outcomes

Coming to school every day is an important habit which impacts on life chances for our children. Every day at school is an opportunity to learn new skills and enhance brain development. This includes social skills and forming positive relationships, learning about the world around us, developing early reading skills and communication. We want the very best for your children and know that coming to school every session will help them be ready for primary school.

is my child well enough for school?

Sometimes children become unwell especially during the winter months as they pick up cold and viruses easily whilst developing their immune systems.

If your child has a fever they MUST not attend school. If you are unsure about attendance please use this helpful info from the NHS to check.

Uniforms and clothing

School uniform is not compulsory but we do stock both T shirts and sweat shirts which bear the school name and logo. We are currently updating our school uniform please enquire in the school office for more details.

These have proved popular with parents as they are hard wearing and wash easily. Uniform is available to buy from the school office and the T shirts are priced at £5.00 and sweat shirts 10.00 should you wish to do so.

we recommend that children wear clothing that allows them to explore our workshop environment and this includes being outside in all weathers . Children have many creative opportunities and we encourage them to be fully immersed in these! therefore comfortable clothing which isn’t their best or most favourite outfit is best so they don’t spoil their clothing with paint or mud.

In addition we recommend children wear waterproof all in one suits and wellington boots as we are outside for most of the session.

Severe Weather Conditions

In the event of severe weather conditions, we do make every effort to keep the school open.  Obviously we must have enough staff to be able to operate safely and be confident that the site is safe for children, families and staff.  We would usually take the decision to close the school in the event of severe weather by 7.00am, when we have been able to assess the situation.

In the unlikely event that it is necessary to close the school, information is provided in a number of ways, as soon as possible.  We inform Radio Jackie and the Local Authority who display the information on their websites.  If the school system is accessible, we will also use our text messaging service to contact you.  The schools status will also be displayed online or be available via a phone message service using the LGfL Open Check system.
